Markus Venzin is a Professor for Global Strategy at the Management Department of Bocconi University and Senior Lecturer at SDA Bocconi. He is the Director of the Master of Science in International Management at Bocconi University. He is the initiator and Director of the new flagship program of SDA Bocconi: the Senior Executive Program. Markus Venzin was the chair of the organizing committee of the Academy of International Management Conference 2008 at Bocconi University. He held visiting positions and teaching assignments at University of Michigan, Fudan University (Shanghai), Copenhagen Business School, Essec (Paris), ESADE (Barcelona), Steinbeis University (Berlin) and St. Gallen University.
Markus Venzin is conducting research projects with firms on their internationalization strategies, the management of their subsidiary network, global knowledge management systems as well as the development of formal planning and control processes. His current research interests include topics such as the study of global knowledge sharing systems of the cement industry, internationalization processes of retail banks, export strategies of small and medium sized firms, innovation and cross-border commercialization of financial service products as well as the logic and process of cross-border mergers and acquisitions of banks. His latest book Internationalization of Financial Services Firms: How Successful Firms Design and Execute Cross-Border Strategies has been published by Oxford University Press in January 2009.
