Biographical note

I am Senior Professor of Accounting in the Department of Accounting, where I was Departmental Director from 2019 to 2022. I am also Emeritus Professor of Accounting at the London School of Economics and Political Science and Honorary Professor at University of Liverpool.


About

Peter F. Pope received the Anthony Hopwood Award for Academic Leadership from the European Accounting Association in 2024 and the Distinguished Academic Award from the British Accounting and Finance Association in 2006.  His book Financial Statement Analysis for Value Investing, coauthored with Stephen Penman, is published by Columbia University Press. His research focuses on the roles of fundamental information in equity valuation and risk analysis, and the roles of regulation, audit and governance in the design of the corporate information environment. He has published extensively in leading accounting and finance journals and is a senior editor of the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting. He is a legal expert in accounting in financial fair play cases, a consultant to the investment management industry and serves as the Academic Coordinator of the Institute for Quantitative Investment Research (INQUIRE). He is a qualified accountant (FCMA) and holds PhD and MA degrees from Lancaster University and the BCom degree from Liverpool University.
